How Lubricants Work with Bearings?
When mentioning bearings, lubricants may occur to most people who have some basic knowledge of bearings. Lubricants are bearings’ good partners. They always work together. The relationship of bearings and lubricants is so close that they just like twins. So we can see that lubricants are so important to bearings.
A lubricant (sometimes referred to as “lube”) is a substance (often a liquid) introduced between two moving surfaces to reduce the friction between them, improving efficiency and reducing wear. As for roller bearings, the most commonly used lubricant is grease because it is cheaper and easier to be applied. With the increase of its popularity, the choice in grease becomes extensive. Fitness is quite important for everything. Therefore, when you choose lubricants, you must take the fitness into consideration. It is especially important for choosing the grease. Grease selection is more complicated than the choice of other lubricants. Choosing the correct grease for your bearings is more important than choosing the best-quality grease.
Except for grease, there are many other different kinds of lubricants which are also very useful for bearings. You can choose them depending on bearings and their specific job. Temperature range is a very important point for choosing most lubricants. If the lubricant can’t deal with the high temperature, it is possible that it can not work under the high speed. That is to say, you should choose low temperature lubricants for low temperature jobs, conversely, using high temperature lubricants for high temperature jobs.
As lubricants are so important to bearings, if you want to buy lubricants for your bearings, it is very important to make sure that the lubricants you choose are appropriate.
